HOW TO USE IT

How to Use the Pokémon Wheel

The Pokémon Wheel is designed for players who want a visible random choice instead of a plain name generator. It starts with the complete National Pokédex of 1,025 base species, then applies only the filters you select. Alternate forms stay out of the pool so each National Pokédex species has one clear identity.

  2. Spin the wheelSix unique candidates are placed on the wheel. The animation lands on one eligible Pokémon at random.

PLAYER IDEAS

What Can You Do With a Random Pokémon Wheel?

A wheel creates a moment of suspense that a normal randomizer cannot. It also makes the choice easy to share with friends because everyone can see the candidates before the result lands.

TEAM BUILDING

Draft one slot at a time

Spin six times and keep every result, or allow one reroll per team. Move each selected Pokémon into the Team Builder to review shared weaknesses and offensive type coverage.

CHALLENGE RUNS

Choose a starter or encounter

Limit the pool to the generation you are playing, spin for a starter, or let the wheel decide which eligible encounter you must catch next.

ART & WRITING

Get an instant prompt

Use the result for a daily sketch, redesign, short story, fusion idea, or character exercise. A type filter can keep the prompt inside a theme.

FRIEND GROUPS

Settle a choice fairly

Use the same visible wheel for a casual draft, tournament restriction, favorite-Pokémon discussion, or party game without creating an account.

FILTERS THAT CHANGE THE POOL

Spin Every Pokémon or Build a Focused Wheel

With no filters selected, the wheel can choose from every base species in the National Pokédex. A generation filter restricts the pool to Pokémon introduced in that generation, while the type filter keeps any species that has the selected type as either its primary or secondary type. Combining both filters creates a smaller, more specific wheel—for example, Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 3.

Legendary and mythical Pokémon are excluded by default because many players want results that work in ordinary teams and challenge runs. Turn the option on when rare Pokémon fit your rules. The live pool count tells you exactly how many species are eligible before you spin, so a restrictive combination never produces a hidden or invalid choice.

QUICK ANSWERS

Pokémon Wheel FAQ

Does the Pokémon Wheel include every Pokémon?

It includes all 1,025 base species in the local National Pokédex data. Alternate forms are not separate wheel entries, which prevents one species from appearing multiple times under different forms.

Is each spin random?

Yes. The page creates six unique candidates from the current eligible pool and randomly selects one of them as the landing result. Previous spins do not change later odds.

Can I spin Pokémon from only one generation?

Yes. Select any generation from 1 through 9. You can also combine that generation with a type filter to make a more focused wheel.

Can the wheel choose Legendary Pokémon?

Yes, but Legendary and mythical Pokémon are off by default. Enable the rare-Pokémon option before spinning when you want them included.

Does the wheel save my results?

The current result remains on screen until you spin again or reload the page. No account is required. Use the Team Builder link if you want to continue working with the selected Pokémon.

Is this an official Pokémon website?

No. Pokémon Roulette is a fan-made browser project and is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company.
